Founded by Ron Groenveld in 1998 as ‘Advance Fencing & Drainage’, AFD Contracting specialises in high security fencing, as well as providing a range of complimentary construction services. AFD Contracting is a family owned and run West Australian company large enough to handle demanding projects with ease and small enough to care.

We pride ourselves on our reputation for ability to complete projects safely, to the highest quality, ahead of schedule and at a fair value price.




Our People

At AFD Contracting we consider our people to be our greatest asset. We celebrate an excellent culture of teamwork and strong leadership. We invest in our people through opportunities to develop new skills and regular training.
The skills, training and qualifications of our people includes, but not limited to:

  • High Risk Licences (Elevating Work Platform, Crane, Dogging, Forklift)

Key Personnel


Managing Director

Sam Groenveld

Sam has worked in the industry since the founding of AFD. Sam has completed a Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering and gained experienced working as an earthmoving operator on a variety of earthmoving plant for a large earthmoving contractor in the Pilbara at numerous mine sites. Since becoming a director in 2009 Sam has filled important roles involved with all aspects of the company including working at ground level, estimating, project management, business development, accounts and driving the implementation and improvement of business systems.

Operations Director

Peter Jackson

PJ started with AFD over 10 years ago and in that time has progressed from a casual labourer to Project Manager. With completing a Diploma in Building, he is close to attaining his builders registration through studies and experience. PJ has responsibilities across various aspects of operations including resourcing, estimating, project management, supervision and business development. When it comes to managing workforce, equipment, materials and clients PJ is highly regarded.

All stakeholders are benefitted from our proactive approach to working with consultants, engineers, project managers and site personnel to plan and design successful projects.

Safety

Safety First, no matter what! Safety is our first and highest priority and is never negotiable. At AFD Contracting we lead the way in being proactive to adopt and set industry best practices and standards. We treat safety practically and ensure it is ingrained in our culture. To us safety is about more than paperwork and compliance, it is ensuring risks are controlled as far as practicable so we are not exposed to harm.
Our Safety Management System has been developed based on AS4801 and the strict requirements of our clients. We have taken best practices and other learnings from mining environments and applied them to all areas of our operations. Our Safety Management System has received approval from Rio Tinto, Programmed Facility Management, Western Power and numerous large building companies.

At AFD Contracting we set the highest standards for quality. Quality is never compromised, we never take short cuts and we pride ourselves on our reputation for the highest quality of product and workmanship. Only work which is completed to 100% quality is considered good enough.
Rather than being the cheapest we provide the best value for money for our clients by ensuring all work is done right the first time, and will stand the test of time. We use our own quality management plans as well as our clients’ to ensure we exceed quality compliance requirements.
